Day 2 - Out of Gallery | Group Photo Walk On Film

  • Queen Elizabeth Park 4600 Cambie St. Vancouver (map)

I won’t be at the gallery on this day, Friday May 17

Bring a film camera and let’s go for a photo walk around Queen Elizabeth Park where we’ll shoot some film and shoot the shit!

My friend Dylan who runs Latency Labs (independently-owned film lab based out of Squamish, go check them out) has graciously sponsored this event and will be joining and donating bulk-loaded film for all participants in the photo walk. If you don’t have a film camera but would like to participate, please let me know, and I will happily find a camera for you! We’ll be hosting a couple of workshops on how to develop your own film at home over the following days, so be sure to check those out too if you’re interested.

Our goal is to teach and share some techniques to those who may be curious about how to use film cameras, using a light meter, the difference between 35mm, medium format and large format photography, etc. This is open to all experience levels and we’re highly encouraging folks who are wanting to get in to film photography who want to learn the principles and techniques for successful results.

Weather-permitting, we’ll meet around 4pm to avoid the mid-day light and catch the sun as it approaches the golden hour. After the sun sets, we’ll get the cameras on tripods and shoot some long exposure frames — it’s a bit more involved than shooting at night with a digital camera and can be very rewarding.

Hope to see you there!

BYOC - Bringing your own camera is encouraged but not required. Let me know if you need one.

2 tripods will be available to use but if you have one, I’d recommend bringing it.

Public washrooms are available in the park, pay parking on site.

Masks optional

Capacity: 10 people max.

Spots Remaining: 0 - We’re full up! Woohoo!
